Moulded DC/DC-Converter with two outputs
-
The SR10W2 was developed for industial battery driven applications. With its extremely large input voltage
range from 9-80VDC it covers a large variety of possible input voltages. In addition to that it is even protected
against transients up to 150V. The output voltages are 5V and 10V with 0,4A and 0,8A max. load.
The converter operates without galvanic isolation. The two regulated output voltages are designed for a
max. continuous output power of 10W with an efficiency of approx. 85%
An external Power/Off-input is integrated. If this input is connected to ground the converter switches on,
otherwise both outputs are disabled. During switch off (input 24VDC) the quiescent current is below 0,2mA.
The qualified temperature range is -30°C- +125°C with a derating of 2,5% from 85°C on.
Due to its moulded design the converter is able to withstand humidity over 93% at 40°C and fulfills
the requirements of the IEC 68-2-27 and IEC 68-2-6 regarding shock and vibration.
An adequate fixation of the 33x33x13mm metal case converter to the PC-board is ensured by 9 solder pins
(diameter 1,0mm).

The new PR50 replaces the discontinued PR40 and is available with the same
dimensions (L 89,3 x B 63,7 x H 39,5 mm) but with now 50W output power.
That was made possible by integrated controlled rectifying improving the efficiency by approx. 5%.
The PR50 can also be delivered as single, dual or tripple versions.
Features such as high reliability, short circuit protection, overvoltage protection
and overtemperature protection by PTC come as standard.
The connection can be chosen between pins (pcb-mounting) or screw terminals.

Additions to the SV-Series
-
The SV-series has been expanded by three new types all in a special compact housing sized 30 x 30 x 40mm.
The SV5A rounds out the extensive program for step-down converters. It is available with three different
input voltage ranges, 9-36VDC, 27-72VDC and 48-90VDC with 5V, 12V, 15V and 24V as standard output voltages.
A maximum of 48W can be generated depending on the input voltage and that with an efficiency of over 90%.
The SV3051 has been added to the group of step-up converters. That converter can also deliver up to 48W
output power. It generates 24V, 36V or 48V at 9-18V input while also 36V and 48V at 18-35V input.
Other output voltages are available upon request without major surcharge.
Finally, a newcomer also rounds out the SVZ-series. Two different versions from the new SVZ can be provided.
On the one hand a converter for vehicles with 12V battery on the other hand one for vehicles with 24V battery.
Both converters are designed for 24W max. ouput power with a standard input voltage ratio of 2:1.
For special applications a unit with 10:1 input voltage ratio has been developed.
All these new converters are constructed for chassis mounting with faston-connectors.

Expansion of SR-series
-
The SR-series - moulded switching regulators without galvanic isolation - from Brandner has been expanded
and optimized with new models. In the DIL-case ((L 32 x W 20 x H 10,5 mm)next to the old SR1A and SR2A
the SR3A with 3Amax and the SR4A with 4Amax at 5V output voltage have been added.
The SR3A has been developed especially for high input voltages and is only available with a 50-90VDC
or 77-144VDC input voltage range.
In the 2" x 2" case the SR5A has been joined by the new SR7A while in the 3" x 3" case the abandoned
SR10A has been replaced with the brandnew SR12A.
The SR-series has also been expanded at its top-end. The new SR50A in a 134 x 94 x 43 mm case
has been added to the already existing SR20A and SR30A manufactured in 94 x 68 x 18 mm cases.
It is mechanically identical to the isolated SI100W1 and likewise is suitable for the use in vehicles due to
its ruggedness. The SR12A, SR20A, SR30A and SR50A-types are optionally available for direct soldering
or wall mounting with fast-on connection. By using controlled rectifying a high efficiency can be realized
enabling high currents to be handled in relativly small case dimensions.

The new partly moulded SF-series
.
Brandner recently increased its standard program with the brandnew SF-series. This new series
includes galvanically isolated converters with up to 100W output power
and as well as without isolation with up to 20A output current. The dimensions are 116 x 39 x 18mm
measured without the connector. The converter board is placed into a small aluminium tub and it is
moulded only to the lower edge of the Pc-Board covering only the SMD-components.
In comparison to completely moulded units the weight reduction amounts to 50%. The waste heat emerging
during operation is conducted to the outside onto the aluminium tub.
For the SF-series Brandner uses wound transformers and not planar transformers enabling customer specific
modifications for small and medium sized volume.
Furthermore the exclusive use of tantalum and cermic capacitors provides a long life expectancy.
Units with 5V output voltage are equipped with controlled rectifier leading to an efficiency over 90%.
Standard features for all SF-units are input filtering, input fuse at the input circuitry, on/off input and sense lines.
Plug in connectors are the designated way of connection with screw terminals as an additonal option. |

New 20W primary switching regulator
.
In the course of the remake of the PR-series, production ceased for the older PR 10W1 as well as
for the PR20W1 and PR20W2. The PR10W1 is no longer available, the PR20 however will still be
available upon request for a limited period of time. As a replacement the PRN20W1 has been newly developed.
With outer dimensions of 70 x 52 x 20 mm it is quite obviously smaller than its predecessor,
but delivers 20W as well. From now on only pinconnection is provided as standard.
The 88-264 VAC wide input voltage range covers all possible worldwide mains supplies, output voltages of
5V , 12V , 15V and 24V are supplied as standard. Other output voltages are available on request.
Due to the use of a controlled rectifier a high efficiency is achieved, particularly at units with 5V output voltage.

Extension of SR-Series
.
With the addition of the SR3A and the SR8A the SR-series of encapsulated step-down converters
has been increased by two new members.
The special feature for these two is very high power build into relatively small cases.
The SR3A, build into a DIL24-case, delivers up to 3A at 5V output,
up to 2A at 12V and 15V output respectively and 1,7A at 24V output. This is made possible
by an extremely high efficiency. For the reduction of power-losses current-transformers are used
instead of shunt-resistors as well as a controlled rectifier, especially effective at low output voltage.
To reduce the ripple to a minimum, only ceramic-capacitors are used at the input-circuitry.
The SR 8A just like the old SR 5A is build into a 2”x 2” case. It is able to draw remarkable 8A at 5V output,
6A at 12V and 15V output and still 4A at 24V output.
Generally the SR 8A convinces with same attributes as the SR3A, but furthermore is equipped with additional
features such as overvoltage-protection and sense-lines in the standard-version.

Battery stabilizers and battery chargers
The battery stabilizers and chargers of the SVZ-series are the newest complement
to Brandner´s vehicle converters. These supplies do not have galvanic isolation
and are available as pure battery stabilizers or as chargers for 12V and 24V batteries.
A 2:1 input is standard but a 4:1 range is available optionally.
As far as output power is concerned a 50W and a 150W-version can be chosen of.
Another model with 400W power is already planned.
The stabilizers deliver a
regulated 12V or 24V voltage protecting a connected electronic device
against voltage drops (for example at the start).
The chargers on the other side supply a constant current during charge-up
of the battery switching automatically to 13,8V stand-by-voltage (fig.1 at 10A)
at the highest possible charging state (at approx. 15V). Both versions are equipped
with an on/off –input avoiding a continuous stand-by-current while sparing the
vehicle battery during operation.
Furthermore the converters are short circuit protected avoiding destruction of the power supply
and overcurrent to the vehicle electronics in case of short circuit.
At overtemperature (over 120°C) an internal PTC switches the converter off.
The integrated input filter as well as a bicolor-LED to signal the actual state of operation
are also useful. For the pure stabilizers change of color indicates reaching of the current limit.
As far as the charger is concerned red light symbolizes charge mode while green light
signals stand-by mode. The converters are very compact and because they are moulded
operation in almost any kind of environment is possible. The connection can be done
by screw terminals or if requested by 6,3mm fastons.
